The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission will take strict actions against construction companies who fail to deliver promised services to their customers.

Chief Executive Joel Abraham says they have been receiving numerous complaints and are keeping a close eye on this matter.

“In that event we charge them and take them to court or alternatively we can impose a fine.”

Abraham is also advising customers to be alert.

“You need to do a proper agreement before you enter in any sort of contract. The checking of completion stages need to be done properly.”

Abraham says the commission is closely monitoring the conduct and compliance of these companies to safeguard consumer interest.

He has also welcomed the initiative from the Consumer Council and Fiji Masters Builders Association to get all construction companies licensed.
