An environmental impact assessment (EIA) for Nawi Island Limited’s (NIL) development on Nawi Island is now available to the public for scrutiny.

A public notice from the Director of Environment noted that the EIA for the island’s foreshore development had been commissioned to Environment Consultants Fiji, as per the condition of approval by the Lands Department.

“NIL currently have an approved EIA for the land based activities of the Nawi Island Integrated Resort Project which included a marina and foreshore development,” the public notice stated.

With the foreshore EIA study now completed, the EIA Report is now open for review and comments by the public and other relevant stakeholders at the Department of Environment and Department of Town & Country Planning’s Northern offices, the Savusavu Town Council, and the Suva offices of the Department of Lands, Department of Fisheries and Department of Environment.

The private retreat of Nawi is spread across three islands in Savusavu Bay, and is set to include a selection of private homes, a world-class resort and spa, marina, yacht club and dry dock development.
