New Lots by Housing Authority

The Housing of Authority of Fiji has called for Expressions of Interest for the purchase of residential lots at upcoming, housing subdivisions in Tavua, Labasa, the Nadi to Lautoka corridor and along the Suva to Nausori corridor.

According to new CEO, Dr Punit Sethi, preparatory work has already begun through advertisements calling for EOIs for the construction of high-rise strata units at various subdivisions and pre-qualifications of contractors for the development of upcoming housing subdivisions at Koronisalusalu in Tavua (Western division), Covata in Labasa (Northern division) and Davuilevu and Nepani in the Central division.

“The Housing Authority team is working diligently to ensure that the subdivisions are developed according to the approved designs and industry standards and is confident that it will provide more opportunities for Fijians to own decent and affordable homes in the near future.

“The closing date for the submissions of E0I’s is 17th October 2017. All E0I’s are to be done through the Property Demand Survey Form (PDSF) that are available at all Housing Authority Customer Relations Centres and can also be downloaded from the Authority’s website – www.housing.com.fj.” Dr Sethi said that customers who had previously filled the PDSF would also be required to submit and lodge fresh customer and financial details. “It is important that this is done to ensure that the customer information is current and loan eligibility assessed accordingly.”

Dr Sethi was appointed CEO of the Housing Authority last month and had noted that he aimed for quality and speedy construction, saying there was scope for improvement in quality. He is noted to have expertise in high-rise buildings, affordable housing, and the rehabilitation and relocation of squatters, as well as infrastructural experience, including roads, sea ports, airports and power projects in the Middle East, Africa, India and France. Prior to Dr Sethi’s new post as CEO, HA’s General Manager Lands & Housing Development, Isikeli Navuda has been acting in the position.

The HA was allocated $7,389,169 in the Government’s 2017-2018 National Budget, to subside the land development cost of its new subdivisions in Nepani (Suva) and Davuilevu in Nausori. This development is expected to deliver 476 affordable lots by the end of 2018. Similarly, a sum of $250 was allocated for strata title home ownership in partnership with the Fiji National Provident Fund, to increase the stockpile of public rental housing through partnerships with the private sector.
