Carpenters Embarks on Major Foreshore Development

Conglomerate, Carpenters Fiji is embarking on a multi-million-dollar foreshore development in Suva’s CBD.

Its subsidiary, Carpenters Properties Limited plans to develop 10 acres of waterfront, prime real estate in the capital, for what it says will be one of the country’s finest tourism and real estate developments.

These will include two 3-4-star hotel developments, one of which will be built by Carpenters Properties Limited, as well as apartment blocks, townhouses and multi-level offices.

“Over 100 retail shops facing the sea front and car parks compromising entertainment, eateries, fine dining, food courts, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, clubs, supermarkets, international spa and gym, cinemas, fashion, mobile shops, convention center, theme/water park, marina facility, landscaped playground and park, specialty shops and a carpark with 750 car parks.” The development includes a Times Square-style setting with a waterfront parade.

THE country’s largest private sector enterprise has called for expressions of interest (EOI) for the purchase or lease of shop lots, purchase of apartments and/or of townhouses and joint venture opportunities for hotel, office, townhouse and apartment developments.

Managing director Daniel Whippy confirmed that they hope to begin construction by the end of this year, with the location of the development next to the Suva Civic Centre carpark.
