Valuer Awarded for Distinction

Matt Myers, MAI, MRICS, FIV, RV, has been honoured with the Volunteer of Distinction award for the month of April by the Appraisal Institute, the world’s leading professional association of real estate appraisers, headquartered in the US.

The Suva-based Chartered Valuation Surveyor is the first Institute member outside of the US to receive this award.

“Mathew Myers has shown a great commitment to the Appraisal Institute. We are proud to have volunteers like Mathew who have dedicated themselves to the advancement of our organization, the valuation profession and their local communities,” the Institute noted.

Myers is senior Managing Director of South Pacific Property Advisors in Suva, and serves as delegate to Australia/South Pacific for the Institute’s national Chief Delegate program.

“Over the years, I have served on numerous committees at international level, at local chapter level presented at conferences, and published in numerous journals,” Myers said.

His extension service to the Institute include membership to the International Relations Committee (2013-16), the University Relations Panel in 2014 and the Appraisal Journal Review Panel (2001-04) amongst others.

The Institute also noted his considerable presentations at various conferences on appraisal topics such as foreign property ownership and articles on valuation issues that have include disaster risk management,

A long-time member of the Institute of Valuation and Estate Management of Fiji (FIVEM), Myers currently serves as its Council Vice-President and has recently co-authored the UNHabitat’s Guide to Valuation of Unregistered Land.
